Alongside the development of autonomous technology and a touch of AI,

There will be two important technologies that combine and complement each other, like a young couple who find love at first sight: a moment of discovery that leads them to nurture each other with the help of the human mind. This will create a new family, whose parents will be known as the long-lasting battery and its beautiful partner, autonomous technology.

Imagine their growing family tree with many technological children and grandchildren, beginning with the marriage of a durable battery and autonomous technology.

Where and how might long-lasting batteries and autonomous technology leave their mark and give birth to new technologies?

Drones with a high lifting capacity

Drones that can remain airborne longer

Surveillance, security checks, calculation and rescue

Drones at sea and under the sea

Drones on the ground

Transport: cars, buses, trucks, bicycles and scooters

Hyperloop or similar transport

Mobility for everyone

The internet: try to make it global. Long-lasting batteries could make it possible to distribute small stations on the ground with helium balloons above them. These balloons could be spread over an area to provide enough 5G coverage to connect people in communities where internet access is weak or speeds are not particularly useful.

Google (Alphabet Inc.) has experimented with helium balloons that fly through the air and change direction using the wind. But instead of letting them fly almost independently, attach them by wires or cables to a battery-powered station on the ground. They would rise below the flight zone.

A solar panel mounted somewhere near the balloon in the air would charge the system and send power down to the ground station. Meanwhile, the helium balloons could transmit mobile internet across the area.

All stations would also include a security setup with remote or autonomous monitoring.

The invention of a better battery will be one of the keys to unlocking our path to an age of advanced technologies.

It has been demonstrated many times that creating a battery with long-lasting capacity requires a great deal. As innovation succeeds step by step and the kind of battery we want becomes a reality, it will show us how technology creates and revolutionises: everyday items (eventually everything is seen as a product), public infrastructure (government, to keep each of us safe and healthy), industrial equipment (industry and organisations pushing for innovation and diversity), and military equipment (security forces maintaining stability and peace).
